It was  non anything like todays sports, where athletes, making  epic  capital, using steroids, or  promoting a   mountain of different things from diets to  other(a) meaningless pointless objects. Everything about todays   racy goes back to the time of Babe Ruth. The home run became the   predom   inate force of the game, unless you count good pitching of course.
